Is there any hope that I can get deinterlacing on a Mi Box S to work? Trying to watch from a TVheadend server. 10-15 Mbit/s streams. I have another box with Coreelec. Works great, but I would really have Mi Box work properly!

Deinterlacing is a major problem on ALL AMLogic Android TV Firmware.
It's been a problem for - years - producing half motion (no good for fast action ball sports) and blocky mpeg2 deinterlaced picture outputs (easily visible in news texts)
I doubt it will get fixed because, these cheap ATV platforms are nearly 100% focussed on Internet progressive video streaming. Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube etc.
Not Broadcast TV deinterlaced streaming.
For me, no deinterlacing option in Kodi app. But SPMC app has this option and works on 1080i MPEG2 TV streams.
