Currently what's next on my list is Beelink Gt King, though the air mouse reportedly has issue.
Not a gamer at all nor my family members do, Nvidia Shield is not on top of my list.
Now, it's 2019 and Xiaomi hasn't pushed out a newer version tvbox.. is that still worth getting considering the price of ~$55 in my country? Is the specs good enough?
As gaming is not a concern for you you can get it. You may need Ethernet dongle for better 4K streaming performance. Offline 4K video playing is fine. Amazon prime video is not available officially. You may need to sideload Nvidia shield's version.

Yes I have one since Christmas and it is perfectly capable of what I am expecting it to do. I didn't have any problems with it at all.

It’s fine but mine locks up all the time, every 5th boot requires me to reset it so... maybe just me tho

Mi box is fine for 1080p streams , it gets buggy at times YouTube app gets stuck at times but it runs everything else quite well including Kodi and Netflix while chrormcasting is a nice bonus , unless u want to game aswell then you can consider Nvidia shield otherwise mi box is Ur best bet for streaming and getting some updates since it's certified by Google.

Yes it is And believe me you don't want to buy a device that is not certified by Google, you will regret it eventually because they can't run Netflix
