Hey guys, i'd love to have your suggestions, i am looking to buy a new tv and i was thinking LG 8100 65" but i'd love to have an android tv instead, maybe a SONY xg85 but i can't decide because i don't know how to actually compare the 2.
can you help pointing me to the right direction on how to compare/decide?
thanks
Those new 2019 Sony's that run Androids Oreo 8.x out of the box now have a pretty powerful new MediaTek chipset in them with an excellent GPU - which all adds up to an snappy, top class Android TV experience - finally !
The new 2019 designed remote is also excellent as well.
Their older Sony TV's, prior to 2019 have been let down by an old, weak underpowered MediaTek chipset - which made for a slow, horrible Android TV experience.
Sony have always been known for better picture quality and motion handling on their LCD/LED TV vs Edge lit LG's, like the 8100 series has:

If you moved up to the LG 8500 series, that has the full monty - Direct Lit - Full array local dimming, picture quality will be better vs the cheap Edge Lit xg85 2019 Sony:

Ignore the Android TV blurb in the following link, because of the Oreo OS and much more powerful Mediatek chipset in 2019 models:
